# Men Mocking Women for Tarot Cards?

I’ve been wondering why so many men seem mock women for being into tarot.

Last weekend at a party, a guy laughed when he saw me talking about cards and asked if I also believed in fairies. I just ignored him… but it’s still annoying.

When I’ve shown tarot to my sister and a couple of close friends, they were curious and asked real questions. When I tried showing my brother and my dad the basics, they rolled their eyes before I even shuffled the deck.

Why do men have a problem with the Tarot?

To start with the obvious - it’s (of course) not _all_ men.

To the (small but maybe vocal) minority that do it’s probably because tarot gets filed under ‘feminine’ in their heads. Any mockery comes from not wanting to look soft in front of other people.

**It really just comes down to fear**.

Most people who scoff have never looked at a card for more than two seconds.

You don’t owe anyone a reading or a defense.

If a guy isn’t willing to understand, then they’re probably not worth your time, first of all.

Most guys I know who give you a hard time about it just aren’t familiar with it and have the fortune-teller stereotype stuck in their heads. They see the nonsense Tarot references in movies or TV shows and that’s the only thing they know.

So you could see it as an opportunity to help them understand more.
