The Empress as intentions is pure nurturing energy. This is someone whose deepest impulse is to feed your becoming, to give freely without controlling.
The way a mother offers everything so her children can blossom into who they actually are. No strings, no agenda. Just space for you to grow.
There’s a gap between intention and impact here. She probably genuinely believes she’s being nurturing. Zero ill intent. But she might be so wrapped up in her own emotional world that there’s this disconnect between how she thinks she’s treating you and what’s actually landing.
I do a lot of gardening so this is where my brain goes: it’s like someone overwatering their plants thinking they’re being loving when they’re actually drowning them. That’s the Empress energy here. Her best right now just isn’t that good.
Or there’s deeper stuff going on, trauma around emotional expression, relationship self-awareness issues, maybe even jealousy she’s not fully conscious of (which honestly tracks with reversed Empress readings more than people realize). Hard to say without more cards around it.

The Empress holds so many archetypes at once (mother, lover, creator, wild woman) that a single pull in an intentions position can just feel muddy. Like you’re getting everything and nothing.
So I like pulling an oracle card to ask ‘which face of the Empress is showing up here?’ Something like the Sacred Creators Oracle or even a simple nature-based deck, because it narrows down whether you’re dealing with someone whose intention is to create beauty in your life versus someone operating from that primal ‘I want to protect what’s mine’ instinct. Different flavor entirely. Same card.
The oracle just gives the Empress permission to be specific.
