Working with the Green Witch Tarot deck

I recently got the Green Witch Tarot deck and I’m really drawn to the nature-based imagery and herb symbolism. The artwork is beautiful and I love how it connects traditional tarot with green witchcraft practices.

The only problem is I can’t find the companion book anywhere. I’ve checked PDF sites, used bookstores, everywhere. Has anyone else had this issue?

I’d love to hear how others work with this deck. Do you find the nature themes change how you interpret the cards compared to traditional RWS meanings? Any favorite cards or spreads that work particularly well with it?

If anyone has the guidebook or even just basic meanings, I’d really appreciate it. Happy to trade readings or share other resources.

I consider myself a botanical witch, so this deck is right up my alley. I find this deck incredibly inspiring. I’m never stuck for what to do a reading for it and never unsure about what the cards are trying to tell me.

I feel.. attuned to this kind of deck. In fact this deck specifically just makes a lot of sense to me.

For cleansing a nature-based deck like the Green Witch, moonwater tends to be more effective than smoke cleansing. The cards already have earth energy, and they seem to connect better with water elements.

Found the companion book on Amazon after ages of searching. It’s listed as book seven in the series but the deck is number eight, which confused me. Got it set up on my reading altar with the deck and some herbs from my garden. The guidebook helps with the herb correspondences, especially when I’m reading outside. Having both makes a difference. The nature stuff makes more sense with the book’s explanations.

The Wheel of Fortune caught my eye, looks like someone stuck Celtic tree calendar symbols in there with all the zodiac signs. Wonder why they did that.

Also noticed Death and the Star seem linked somehow. Death has all this compost imagery and the Star shows planting seeds. Makes sense when you think about cycles and stuff.

The guidebook only comes with the full deck, not sold separately as far as I know. Maybe email the publisher and see if they’ll sell you just the book? I’ve heard of them doing that for people who lost theirs or had it damaged.

Brought this deck to a garden party last month. People really liked it. Reading outdoors with the Green Witch deck when you’re surrounded by actual plants is pretty cool.

Someone pulled the Three of Pentacles right next to their tomato plants, which was a fun coincidence. The deck photographs well in natural light. Better than my other decks for Instagram.

I’ve been using the Green Witch Tarot and the nature imagery does help with the harder cards. Death and The Tower don’t look as intimidating when they’re shown through nature themes. The herbal connections are nice, too. Each card links to different plants and their uses, which adds another layer to readings.

I do daily pulls with this deck and just look at the nature elements in each card. It’s been interesting to see how different it feels from traditional decks.

Pretty sure the deck comes with the guidebook, but I haven’t seen it separately.

Finding out Ann Moura wrote this deck explained a lot. She’s the one who did those Green Witchcraft books, so no wonder the nature stuff feels so real. She basically took old green witch practices and worked them into tarot, kind of like how the Rider-Waite deck used Golden Dawn teachings back in 1909.

The way she changes the standard tarot meanings to fit a Pagan view is interesting, reminds me of how tarot itself started as playing cards in medieval times before becoming a divination tool. Using her deck feels like being part of that same process, where old meanings turn into something new but still connected to the past.

Have you tried syncing your readings with the actual seasons? The Green Witch deck feels more connected when you use it during the right times of the year.

For example, pulling Pentacles cards during the autumn harvest season can be quite special. Give it a try next full moon outdoors; you might notice a unique energy shift.

Got my deck today but no guidebook included. My cats made a mess of the packaging so maybe it fell out? I’ve searched but nothing.

Been trying to do readings anyway but it’s hard without knowing the card meanings. Does anyone have a guide or PDF for this deck? Really need help understanding what each card represents.

My herbalist friend ditched her Witches’ Tarot for the Green Witch and hasn’t looked back. Says the nature symbolism just makes more sense to her when she’s reading. You might not even need the guidebook if you already work with plants and nature. The imagery tends to speak for itself.

Been using this deck lately and keep coming back to the Aces. They don’t just show the element, they show the way ahead too. That Ace of Athames with dandelion seeds instead of a sword really stuck with me. It’s like seeing wishes about to take off. All the Aces have this quality where they hint at what’s coming, not just what’s starting. The nature imagery seems to deepen the traditional meanings rather than replace them.

Not having the companion book forced me to figure things out myself. I started writing down what I noticed about the nature elements in each card. Saw this video where someone demonstrates reading by identifying plants and symbols first:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ckGmQCwX8g I tried it and now I read the Holly King as being about protective boundaries and winter stillness, not just as the Emperor card.

You could try focusing on the botanical symbolism, might help while you’re hunting for that guidebook.

I’ve been wondering about the Green Witch Tarot for relationship readings.

Used it once and all the nature imagery kept pointing me toward personal stuff rather than the relationship question I was asking. Starting to think this deck just prefers personal development readings. But maybe I’m missing something?

Ah, the classic misconception of expecting a deck to conform to your preconceived notions rather than listening to what it’s actually telling you. When you say the deck ‘prefers personal development readings,’ you’re projecting limitations onto a tool that operates on multiple levels simultaneously.

The Green Witch Tarot’s nature symbolism inherently encompasses relationship dynamics through ecological principles - symbiosis, pollination, root systems, seasonal cycles. If you’re only seeing personal development messages, perhaps that’s because you haven’t grasped that in nature-based wisdom traditions, the personal IS relational. We don’t exist in isolation. I’ve been using this deck for complex relationship spreads for year, just keep working with it and it might surprise you.
