Been through so many tarot reading apps trying to find one that doesn’t feel like a random number generator. I think it’s important to have some kind of connection and spiritual guidance and not “just” a random card spat out.
Galaxy Tarot has great card meanings, but the daily draws feel flat. Labyrinthos is amazing for learning, but something about it feels too… clinical? Like I’m studying flashcards instead of reading the Tarot. Just not the same thing.
The weird thing is some apps just stand out differently. Same digital cards but totally different vibes - some feel dead while others somehow keep that mystical connection. Still hunting for a tarot reading app that balances good reference info with pulls that actually feel guided.
Has anyone found an app that makes them forget they’re not shuffling a real deck?

I’d also be pretty curious about this…
Most of my life is digital. I spend tooo much of my day staring at a screen, but for whatever reason, I’ve always been analogue with the Tarot. Maybe that’s a good thing.
Apps have actually made my physical readings better. I pull cards the old-fashioned way, then record everything digitally to track patterns over time.
Sometimes the AI catches meanings I totally missed. Not gonna lie, at first I thought it was cheating, but now it just feels like having someone to study with who knows all the symbolism and doesn’t judge when you blank on a card meaning.
Plus having all those specialized spreads ready to go (Dream Interpretation, Mind Body Spirit, etc) got me experimenting way more than I used to with just my regular deck.
I downloaded Mystic Mondays because of the soft card animations.
They remind me of how my grandma used to carefully turn each card. Plus, you can change the reading speed, which really gives it that laid-back, ritualistic feel. It’s great when modern stuff still gives a nod to the old ways.
I’ve been using apps with custom spread options lately. The cards work just as well digitally, at least that’s what my old mentor believed.
Galaxy Tarot’s great - I recommend it all the time!
What I love most is how deep the card explanations go. You get way more than just ‘this card means X’ - they actually break down all the symbolism and layers of meaning. The app also does a good job teaching you to be thoughtful about readings.
Stuff like respecting people’s boundaries and being careful with how you deliver hard messages. When you understand the cards better, you can give actual helpful readings instead of just fortune-telling nonsense.
Some apps can recognize tarot cards from photos now and give you readings. Best of both worlds, honestly. You get to handle real cards but still have the app stuff when you need it.
The apps I keep coming back to connect you with actual human readers. There’s something about having a real person interpret the cards vs just getting a generic meaning from a database.
My best digital readings happened when I could feel someone’s actual energy coming through. Some apps make it a whole experience with journaling prompts and breathing exercises alongside the tarot. The tech fades into the background when it’s done right - you’re just there receiving guidance.
Uni Tarot is my suggestion.
The best tarot apps are the ones that break down the symbolism for you.
Take the Six of Swords, there’s this person in a boat with swords, crossing water. When you understand that represents navigating difficult feelings, everything starts making sense. Same with cards like the Hermit and his lantern, or those mountains you see in the background of certain cards. Apps that explain these details bring the readings to life. Otherwise you’re just looking at random cards with no real meaning.
The apps that get it right have ambient soundscapes, Golden Thread Tarot’s background music is perfect for getting focused. Moon phase tracking is another great feature. You start noticing patterns in your readings you wouldn’t catch on your own.
I found Deckible and it’s been amazing for my tarot readings.
They have real decks from actual creators, and the journaling features are really handy. I think my reading skills have improved, though maybe that’s just my coffee-fueled imagination. You can save your spreads and look at patterns, like how I seem to draw the Tower card more often on Mondays.
I love that it’s authentic with real deck designs, and I’ve been trying to get my favorite indie creators involved. It’s like having a whole tarot collection on your phone without the risk of dropping them in a puddle.
Another +1 for Galaxy. It’s the only app I could see myself ever really working with.
Started pairing herbal teas with my Labyrinthos readings. Love that it has Thoth and Lenormand plus regular tarot. I match different herbs to whatever deck I’m using. Mugwort for Thoth shadow work, peppermint for quick Lenormand dailies, that kind of thing.
Labyrinthos is awesome! I really appreciate how it focuses on the symbolism in each card instead of just sticking to fixed meanings.
It makes tarot feel more like understanding a visual language. Their idea of seeing reversals as energy changes is a great change of pace. Has anyone else felt that their daily draws boost intuitive reading over just fortune-telling?
Love the Fool’s Dog sampler.
Got it a few months ago and it’s been great for exploring new decks. The art quality is impressive, you can really see the details even in the app. Best part is being able to try before you buy. I’ve discovered some amazing decks I never would have looked at otherwise, and avoided a couple that just weren’t my style.
