I’ve been getting into tarot but honestly can’t justify spending more money on decks right now. Been looking for free printable ones I could use instead.
Does anyone know where to find good quality printable tarot decks? I’d like something I can print at home that still looks decent. Would prefer full 78-card decks if possible, but I’m open to whatever’s out there.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Been searching for printable decks and went down a rabbit hole looking at printing services. Turns out you can get decks printed for like $1.55 each but you have to order 15,000 minimum. Even at 100 decks it’s still $9 each. Anyway, still hunting for those free PDFs if anyone has links.
Hi there, vintage printer lovers! Just wanted to share a tip. If you’re dealing with an older printer like mine, using thick cardstock for printing tarot cards might not go as planned. Instead, try printing on normal paper and laminating them after. It turns out quite nice without the hassle of smudges.
You can grab tarot images from Wikipedia for free. They have the whole deck available. I found them when I was looking for card references. The resolution is decent enough for most uses.
I started making my own tarot deck and found that the standard size is 2.75’ x 4.75’. These dimensions work well and the cards feel good to hold and shuffle. If you’re printing at home, sticking to these measurements helps.
The cards will have the right weight and feel more like actual tarot cards when you’re doing readings. Making your own deck takes time, but each card you create becomes more personal to you.
You can get the complete Sacred Geometry Tarot deck as free PDFs from their website. The files are ready for double-sided printing, which means you won’t need to glue the backs on each card. I’ve had mine for a while now, and with a bit of corner rounding using scissors, they shuffle pretty well.
I printed the Wild Unknown Tarot a while back and the colors didn’t turn out well. You really need a high-end printer for those detailed illustrations. Simple designs work better for home printing, so maybe start there if you want to try it.
archive.org has old Rider-Waite tarot images you can print. I used them for my altar when I was broke. Just get some cardstock and search for ‘tarot deck’ in their images section.
Personally I don’t think this will ever turn out as well as you’re picturing it unless you already have a really high quality printer and cardstock for some reason.
You could use apps like these instead (I use Labyrinthos) and that would give you digital cards that look great. Plus you won’t have to deal with printing or cutting. You’ll be ready to do readings quickly.
Check out Etsy - they have free digital downloads and I grabbed some nice vintage decks from there recently.
I found that the Hermetic Tarot has free high-res scans on archive.org, which is just what I needed. I’m digging into how the cards link up with the Tree of Life, so having printouts means I can jot down Hebrew letters and sephiroth connections right on the copies. It’s nice not to have to worry about messing up a real deck while I’m learning. If you’re into this stuff, you might want to check it out.
Kristen on Ko-Fi (Over the Moon Magic) has some nice printable decks. Free downloads, but you can tip through Ko-Fi if you like her stuff. Pretty sure Reverie Tarot has a PDF version somewhere too.
Yeah printing at home gets expensive fast. The toner alone would buy you at least two good decks. I make rune sets and tried doing oracle cards once. Between the cardstock, toner, and time spent cutting everything. not worth it.
Just get a deck that speaks to you. There are so many out there now at all kinds of price points. Plus the print quality on commercial decks is way better than what most home printers can do.
Found makeplayingcards.com when I was looking to print my own deck. Their card stock is decent and uploading images is straightforward enough. You’ll want high-quality PNG files, though.
Had some cards come out looking rough because my images weren’t good enough resolution. If you’re using artwork that isn’t yours, double-check the copyright situation first. Some artists get pretty upset about unauthorized use. Fair warning, once you start making custom decks it’s hard to stop. My wallet wasn’t ready for this hobby.
So I finally got around to laminating my deck and yeah. they’re way too slippery now. Can barely shuffle them without cards flying everywhere. Anyone know a fix for this? Or am I stuck with my sliding card problem?
